Sponsorship
No food establishment may sponsor this site
Not restaurants, not markets, not caterers, not their owners, agents, trade groups or suppliers. This is the whole policy in one line, and it is not negotiable.
The reason is simple. The moment a business that appears in these records could pay us anything, every record on the site becomes suspect: a good one looks bought, a bad one looks like leverage. A publication that ranks businesses and also sells them advertising has nothing left to offer its readers. So we don't.
Who can sponsor
Businesses with no stake in the inspection record of a Greenwich food establishment. In practice that means firms serving the same community from outside the industry we cover, for example estate agents, car dealers, professional practices, banks and local services.
The firewall
- Sponsors do not see data, rankings, or lists before publication.
- Sponsorship never affects whether an establishment appears, where it ranks, or how it is described.
- Sponsors get no say over editorial decisions, and no advance notice of them.
- Sponsorship is disclosed on the page it appears on. There is no native advertising here and nothing is dressed up as editorial.
- If a sponsor asks for any of the above, the sponsorship ends.
What a sponsor gets
A clearly labelled placement, an honest audience of people making a decision about where to spend money locally, and association with a public-records project rather than an advertorial. No tracking pixels, no data about readers, because we don't collect any.
