Email alerts
Two kinds of email, both sent only when something changes. There is no newsletter and no schedule.
When new records are published
Inspection records reach us from the Town of Greenwich Department of Health in batches, under the Connecticut Freedom of Information Act. When a batch has been read, cross-checked and posted, one email goes out listing every establishment with a new inspection, newest first. How often that happens depends on when the Town releases records; we do not control it and will not promise a schedule. Corrections to anything an earlier email reported go to the same list, with the next batch or on their own.
Tell me when new records are published
When one establishment's record updates
Open any record and choose Email me when this record updates. You will hear when that record changes, and only then: a new inspection is posted (what the inspector marked on the form, and a link to the full record), or the record is corrected, flagged as disputed, or gains the establishment's response. An email cannot be taken back, so if we correct a reading we sent you, we send you the correction too. Follow as many places as you like; each one is a separate choice and can be stopped on its own.
If you run an establishment
Follow your own record and you will get the same email as everyone else who follows it, sent when a new inspection is posted here. Nobody is told sooner: we do not give any establishment an advance look at its record, and that applies to all of them equally. If something in a record is wrong, the corrections page explains exactly what happens next.
How signing up works
Enter your address and we send one email asking you to confirm it. Nothing else is sent until you click the link in it, so nobody can put your address on the list without your knowing. Once you are confirmed, a place you add takes effect at once; every email names the place it is about, and carries a one-click unsubscribe and a link to a page where you can stop that one place and keep the rest.
What we will not do
- Send anything other than the alerts you asked for. No marketing, no messages from sponsors.
- Sell, share or publish your address, or the list of places you follow.
- Write on a calendar. If no records arrive and nothing we sent you needs correcting, no email is sent.
